Rudolph Wurlitzer Cornet in Bb c.1890

This is highly engraved gold plated Cornet made c.1890.and inscribed "R. Wurlitzer & Bros, Manufacturer, Cincinnati, Ohio"   Wurlitzer was born Saxony on 1831 and flourished as a brass instrument maker in Cincinati Ohio from 1856 to 1914 and in Chicago 1865 to 1912. He was a major supplier of wind, brass, and percussion instruments during the US Civil War. His family became famous in 20th Century for their line of Organs. The  engraving features a massive eagle which stretches almost all the way around the bell. The eagle holds the arrows and laurel leaves and superinposed on an American Flag. The  Wurlitzer logo is surrounded  by a garland.
