Lyon and Healy Mellophone  c.1920

Lyon and Healy was primarily an importer of brass instruments  from 1864 through 1940 . they were the mid-west outlet for Distin and by 1900 they domineered the US retail and mail order musical mechandising. They set up the E.A Couturier Band Instrument Co  1n 1923.  This mellophone is a Lyon ad Healy Chicago "Own Make" probably made in the Couturier factory.  It has separate crooks for Eb, F, and Bb.  A photo of a mid west band shows the horn in use.
