Bass Tuba in Bb- Berliner Valves c.1864

This tuba has early Berlin type valves (Berliner Pumpen) common early-mid 19th century. It is unmarked and probably of German origin .  I first saw this neat old horn in  Khun Presert's shop (my favorite brass repairer and procurer of old instruments in Bangkok), but he wouldn't sell it to me

However, just as I was leaving Thailand in 1999 Khun Presert totally restored it and graciously donated it to me for my "museum". In 2002, I was offered a trade for a beautiful Civil War Eb TARV Saxhorn... so this Bb tuba is now serving the low end in the 18th Illinois Cavalry Band.
