Brua C. Keefer Eb Tuba  c.1915
This Eb Tuba is inscribed:
Brua C. Keefer
Maker
Highest Grade
Williamsport Penn
Brua Cameron Keefer  purchased the Henry Diston Mfg. Co. in 1909. His father  Luther had been an investor in Distin's factory and Brua served as general manager since 1890 when Distin retired.  He built primarily brasswinds but apparently in the later years branched out into saxophones as well.  This particular tuba, (serial 5321) while on the small size, has a big superb and centered sound - attesting to the continuing quality of Keefer brass.   The silver plating on this great tuba is nearly 100% (just as the tarnish is also nearly 100%)!!!  Perhaps some day soon I'll get out the polish and have another go at it. It shines up like a new instrument!! Note the intricate design on all ferrules and trim pieces.
