Crookless Trumpet c.1950

This is a rare Carl Wohlrab German Crookless Trumpet. There are no valve tuning crooks and slides, but instead, the tubing of the valve casings and the valves themselves is used to achieve the additional length by the use of internal spiral spaces and partitions (see valve patent diagram down below). The valve casings are the diameter of baritone valve casings.  These photos are used with the kind permission of Steven Ward of Quinton VA. in whose excellent brass collection this most unusual trumpet now resides.
