Phil Holcomb retired in
1999 and moved to his home on idyllic "Vina Del Mar"
(a.k.a. Mud Key)
on St. Pete Beach Florida.
An early objective was finding a
Brass
Quintet - much like those he played with while living overseas.
Not finding an established group, he
formed the
St.
Pete Beach Brass who for several years performed at many
community
events and
holiday concerts. Recently, the SPBB was augmented by some superb
musicians and has become a
truly cohesive musical quintet with a growing repertoire of musical
styles.
In March 2008, we re-invented
ourselves as the
MUD
KEY BRASS BAND
- a mid-19th century civilian town band -
playing music of the period on authentic brass instruments of the
era. Phil maintains a museum of
unusual and antique
brass instruments See his
Brass
Cyber
Museum
on this website. On May 17, 2008 we play at
the Heritage Village in Largo for their "Civil War Days"
festival!
