These Brass Carriage oil
lanterns are made in Birmingham England by a company called
Powell & Hanmer (partly worn away by Polishing)- with a trade name
of Vulture. They are heavily constructed and have massive
mounting brackets. Each has a faceted red lens in back to serve
as a tail light! The exact date of manufacture is unknown- but
they could have been used on very early motorcars. they are both
left side lamps and appear to be readily functional.
