This is beautiful desk top writers box made of cherry and a top facia of grained burl?  The box is fitted with a brass lock, brass piano hinges  and a brass handle to pull out the bottom drawer. It hold sheets of paper, envelopes, invitations, etc. in sectioned compartments. A brass pin holds the drawer in a closed position until removed when the top is opened
