This a truly rare carpet design- an 8 panel family prayer carpet!  It a Turkoman Chokbas made near the turn of the century. Theis unique deign features 2 larger panels and 6 smaller panels - each with a mirab and a hanging lamp depicted in the apex.  The field in each panel is a rich burgundy color with some minor abrash.  The blue-black areas defining the mihrabs is filled with geometric flower figures.  There are two min boders and three minor guards. The outside border on one end has been re-woven (see detail photo). The carpet may have been designed to be used by a father and his small sons.
