This
truly beautiful antique runner has a crisp design and employs a
wonderful use of colors. It's main border features the
Caucasian "Double Eagles Beak " design. The main field is filled
with a repetitive motif typical of the Caucasian Kuba design. A unique
feature of this carpet is that it is woven with Persian Assymetrical
knots, which leads one to think it may have been done in Southern
Azirbaijan- near the Northern Iran border. Due to the age,
the pile shows some wear - especially in the Blue-Black main field -
where the use of iron oxide in the dyestuff eventually makes the wool
brittle. There are several well-done repairs, but the carpet is
generally in superb condition. The dyes are mostly vegetable
consistant with the period in which it was made
I have this carpet listed at
$3500,
but now am offering it at
a deep discount - $2500!!
