This truly unusual and striking
kelim main carpet defies an easy description. I call it my
"Art-Deco" kelim due to the very unusual use of the stylized boteh
(paisely) figure throughout. The Botehs here are decoratively
spooned together to form three central cross medallians- and again in
each corner of the main field. The selection of brilliant colors
is also breathtaking- and hard to photograph accurately.
There are five main borders with one inner border the traditional
Caucasian reciprocal oak leaf and wine glass. The outer border is the
"running dog" design. In all, this is a spectacular and
rare carpet.... I have never seen another like
it!
