This is a large Turkoman Beshir double saddlebag  decorated by a traditional,  intricate and colorful all-over kelim weaving. These bags were slung over a donkey's back or over a camel as the nomadic people moved from one grazing area to another. They would be used to carry any and all sorts of personal objects .  Please note the dark wool loops which are used to secure each side of the bag. The loops are stuck through slots in the bag face and then a stick or  a wool rope is threaded through to keep the contents safe. The loops can also be laced to eachother in a sort of chain- and only the last one secured. Bags of this quality are rarely seen,
