This extraordinary carpet  has a finely executed all-over geometric design on a lattice with four main borders and five guards. The blue-black field is covered with multicolored flowers. The extremely intricate design workmanship in this carpet differs substantially from the usually more crudely executed Afshars.  The colors are striking and bold - but result in an over-all earth tone feeling.  This carpet does not show any wear despite its half-century age and probably spent the early years of its life in a stack of fine carpets in a dealer's showroom!
